Botanically innacurate, I'm sure - I've no idea what leaf shapes belong to these flowers - but it was all about creating areas of difference. Waaaay too much going on AGAIN! But messy was a word a used when I was thinking about how I wanted my art to look, so maybe I'm just being me. Tell me what to do next, Phil! 🙏 Loving week 4 of CVP (the course I'm doing). It's all about design - difference and contrast, hence only using black and white. Just some of the SIXTY canvases that Bridgewater's Year 4 created at today's Wow Day! They'd been learning about Africa and this project combined the traditional patterns they'd look at in class with the wildlife of this amazing continent. I've discovered the secret to playing - sketchbooks! Painting on wooden panels was making me uptight, worrying about the result. Using paper has freed me up and encouraged me to keep adding, rather than taking away (too easy to put it under the tap with panels!). This is what happened when an abstract became a painting of trees and then turned back into an abstract. Just kept playing around until it was time to stop. Forced myself to use more subtle colours for this one. It took A LOT of restraint 😬😬😬 This is a bit like that game where you have to count all the squares. How many Xs in this painting? It's my new favourite shape and I think may have overdone it here 😂
